Michael F. Moran is the managing partner at Moran Law. He has over 40 years of experience as a trial attorney and has tried over 165 jury trials to verdict throughout the State of California.
He started his career at the Orange County District Attorney’s office, then for 15 years worked in civil defense which gives him a unique perspective and advantage in now prosecuting cases on behalf of victims of elder abuse and neglect. For the past 20 years, Mr. Moran has devoted his entire practice representing plaintiffs in elder abuse, neglect, negligence, and wrongful death actions against nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospitals, and home health agencies.
Mr. Moran has obtained multimillion dollar verdicts, arbitration awards, and settlements on behalf of elderly victims of abuse and neglect throughout the State of California which has made him a member of the exclusive Million and Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum.
Mr. Moran has been recognized for his trial advocacy and is the past recipient of the California Advocates of Nursing Home Reform (CANHR)’s William F. Taylor Memorial Award, the Trial Lawyers Board of Regents’ Litigator Award for representation in Nursing Home Abuse cases, The National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Lawyers for Civil Plaintiff Attorneys, and recently received recognition for the Top 100 Wrongful Death Verdicts in the United States in 2023.
Mr. Moran is actively involved with CANHR to preserve and protect the rights of victims of elder abuse. He has been a speaker at CANHR’s annual elder law conference for continuing education on elder abuse issues. In addition, he has served as a speaker on elder abuse issues for Continuing Education for the Bar (CEB) for the State Bar of California, various community and professional organizations throughout the State of California, and has been a guest speaker on KRLA 870 regarding elder abuse issues. Further, to improve the quality of patient care in nursing homes to our elders, Mr. Moran has and continues to provide In-Service Education on quality care issues to the nurses, staff, and administration at nursing homes, Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE), and home health agencies in Southern California, at no cost.
Mr. Moran has attained the highest possible rating of “AV” by Martindale Hubbell, the national directory of attorneys, for preeminent legal ability and ethics.
Mr. Moran was selected to the awarded Super Lawyer status every year since 2014 thru the present/2024.
Mr. Moran holds a Juris Doctor Degree from Western State University School of Law and a Bachelor’s Degree from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York. He is admitted to practice before all courts in the State of California and the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
